  • Drone Footage Tug and Mako (sort of)

I wasn't sure if I shared this or not, but my son shot drone footage of the tug back in 2017 and did an edit to music in a YouTube vid. This was the first time he shot vid of a moving object and after showing people they wanted to get their boat on vid as well. Once gentleman said he'd pay $500. Not too shabby.

How does a Mako tie into this? I was driving the tug and he was controlling the drone from the Mako and you can see me approach him around min 1:30.

When new it was good for 18 knots with no load, but after many years with many layers of bottom paint and loaded she's good for 16 kts and that's with a 210 Cummins diesel.

Boat weight dry it 16,000#, fuel and water add another 2,400# and then 2,000# of gear, so she's somewhere in the 20,400# weight range. When we cruise, there's an additional 1000# or more of stuff. Semi displacement hull allows her to move and not worry about climbing out of the hole to get on top of the water.
