  • Spring break in the keys

My wife and I were able to get away to the lower keys without any kids for the entire week of spring break. Weather was sunny but blowing like crazy almost the entire week. We were only able to get a little ways out on 2 days. Still managed 1 king and a bunch of good eating little reef fish.

    View from the back porch

Some have asked how she sits in the water:

Key deer are like big puppies

    All Hers!!

    Looking for Bugs!!

    Finally found ONE!

Grilled lobster and hotdogs! Can't tke the redneck anywhere!!!

Love the big bow for puling the anchor

I know they're small but we caught over a hundred in 3 hours. Kept 20 this size. And they are tasty!

    Key West exploring:

    Last day sunset.

Home a little early looking for some Kings in the gulf but they were not playing nice. Guess a bad day fishing beats the best day working though.

Awesome job. Boat looks great and smiles even better. Any Yellow Tail? Any recommendation for the house? I have never taken the boat down but very interested in doing the drive.

It was too rough to get out to the yellow tail grounds. Donovan gave me some spots to try about 10 miles offshore, but the night he gave them to me it started blowing 20+ and never let up the rest of the trip. I would recommend the place we stayed at. The house was reasonably priced and in pretty good shape. The only bad thing about it is the storage, there's nothing onsite for trailers or extra vehicles. They have an offsite lot for trailers but I'm not sure where you'd park a second car. My truck didn't really even fit in the driveway. It stuck out about 2 feet into the road. Some sites are bigger than others though. They have a nice boat ramp, a bait shop/fuel dock, pool, bath houses and a laundry room. It's called Venture Out and its on Cudjoe Key. Easy access to open water on the Atlantic side and a 10 min run (all on plane) to the Gulf. It's 25 min to Key West and 10 min to Big Pine. Both of which have grocery stores. We will be going back but not in the spring time. I think early summer, or after Mini Season would be better weather not having to worry about cold fronts and cold water.
