Just purchased a 1979 Mako 254 with twin 2006 150hp Evinrudes. The boat is very sound and runs out well. There are some projects that need attending to: forward fuel tank sender is not working, t-top structure needs to be removed and powder coated, sound system installed and updating the electronics.

There are forward and aft fuel tanks, but i'm unable to locate the access panel for the sending unit, and ideas?

The rear tank unit will be under your feet as you stand at your helm. You should be able to access it by opening the 6"+/- circular hatch in the deck.

The front tank unit is accessed by removing the panel under the console that your fuel lines come up through.

Thank you flounder! There are (4) batteries under the center console, which must be hiding the access panel. It appears one needs to be a contortionist to do any work under the console! Where do you buy parts, such as sending units, etc...?

Do an online search for "fuel sending unit". Purchase from your local marine parts store or online.
