  • New Boater and Classic Mako 1972 owner

Hello everyone. Im a new owner of a 1972 Mako 19 with a 1987 Johnson outboard . Im 36yrs old married with kids. I thought this would be an excellent way to have fun with family and friends as Ive always loved fishing. I live 10minutes from the George Washington bridge in NJ. Id love any input regarding the boat I have, fishing, launch locations, anything you would have liked to have known when you where new to this. All will be appreciated. I will post pictures of my boat ASAP. My boat seems to be solid. Only fallback is when previous owner replaced gas tank they didnt do a good job with the hatch to coffin and Im in the process of redoing. I also had the bottom sanded and Repainted.

    Hi Allen,

I did the same thing, bought my Mako 15 for family fun, so much so that we take trips on the lake for fishing, swimming, tubing, and soon to try water skiing. I can't help with the location info, as I am in the Seattle area, though my family misses the East coast. We are from Buffalo, NY. Those on this group have been very helpful with information. I had to do quite a bit of work on my Mako. I'm still learning!

                Allenc104,

I just recently purchased an older Mako that looks like the identical hull to what you have, although yours appears to be in better condition. I bought mine as a project. Do you have any photos of the cockpit area? Someone did some work to mine and didn't do a very good job, so I'm going to tear all of it out....but I'd like to see yours to see how mine would have looked before the previous owners did their handiwork. Thanking you in advance.
