  • Bennett or Lenco Tabs???

Hey All, I picked up a 93' 17 Mako with a 2001 carb'ed 115 Yamaha. She's in unbelievable shape. For upgrades, I was thinking to throwing a Simrad Go7 on her and Trim Tabs. I'm thinking lenco as there is little space for a oil reservoir for the hydrolic tabs. Thoughts on this?

You'll hear both sides but I love my lencos.

Bennett has the best customer service in the industry hands down. I asked Tom aka Tabman some questions about reinstalling my old tabs when I upgraded my rams and he actually sent me that hardware to do it and it was a system that was purchased years ago by a previous owner.

What did I tell you about Ford v Chevy? []

Just to stoke the fire, Lenco sent me a free control box ($125) when mine malfunctioned. Their customer service is also pretty good.

I do not believe this is a true statement. Unfortunately, this may very well be the ONLY product out there where this is the case, but I do not believe I have ever heard anything bad said about either product and their customer service.

I have Lenco, and the only reason I chose is I found a great deal on second hand set that is exactly what I needed. I would have jumped whether it was Lenco or Bennett. I have been very pleased, and the one call I made to customer service was handled perfectly.

As for your specifics, if space is at a major premium on your 17' I would probably got with electric to avoid pump and reservoir.

I have Bennett's on the 285 and Lenco on the 171. Space was the factor for my decision 171. Of course, you can get the Bennett electric as well. I think you'd be happy either way.
