  • New Mako owner

Hello everyone. My Name is John and I'm from Long Island Ny. Today, I picked up this classic 20. It's an 85 with only 370 hours on it. It's got an 85 Evinrude 140 on it. I am the 3rd owner. I got it from a guy who left it neglected and uncovered for the last 7 years. It's terrible, it's full of rotten leaves and it's got algae growing all over it. To boot, the compass housing cracked and all the fluid leaked out. He used it 3 times and only put 20 hours on. He provided me with the original owners "for sale" ad. The original owner had a new fuel tank and hoses installed in 2006 (so that's a positive). Right now it's got about 30 gallons of 7(at least) year old fuel in it. I'm going to have to figure out get that removed and disposed of safely(I hear auto part places that take used oil will take the gas?) I will have many questions about this boat moving forward and look forward to becoming a member of the Mako community.

Here it is in front of my house

Got to work removing the name and taping. You can see how badly the gel coat is oxidized.

Cleaning under the console I came across this holder of some kind. Its screwed into the floor and I have no idea what it could be used for. Any ideas?? Pay no attention to the dirt...Its all clean now. I assure you.

Congrats and welcome to CM! That bracket under the console looks like it's to hold a bunch of whiskey bottles!
