Hi everyone my name is Rob I have been looking for a Mako for a very long time. Recently I gave up my search and started looking for any 20ft boat that fit my needs. a few days ago after looking at a completely rotted out Chincoteague Scow a 20ft mako was listed on my way home. So now shes mine!! She is a 1973 20ft with a 1985 75hp mercury which i think is very under powered and someone cut the transom to fit a long shaft... but shes in good shape! Ill post pics asap.

Welcome to CM! 75hp is definitley WAY underpowered for that boat. You need at least a 120-140hp motor at a minimum. My '85 20 had a 150 which was a pretty good match but I always wanted a 200. []

    Standing by for pictures. [8D]

The 75 is listed for sale. Just picked up a 185 johnson! Should be plenty of pep. I need controls now and build a motor plate to raise the motor from the cut in the transom.

I had a '77 20 with a johnson 200 years back..... you'll be fine with the 185. Post up some pictures.
