I have been lurking for the last couple of years and have really enjoyed the site.

I finally bit the bullet and found a 1979 17 footer Standard. Its a mess but cant find any soft spots and the transom seems strong. I have had other boats before in the 24 ft range but found the cost to fuel them with 145 gallons @ $4 kept me from enjoying the boat unless I took 4 of my closest friends. A 100HP with a 20 gallon tank should be just right. The added benefits of no payments. This will be a project my 15 year old son and I will be working on. Finally something to get him to spend some time with the old man. He is stoked and already put some time into it. I am going to start a project page for it and look forward to the wisdom and insight of this group.

      Snappergapper

Thanks for the comments. I am off Sr 210 and 95. I look forward to the input. Tomorrow should be a big day. I should find out if the motor is usable. It's a 96 Suzuki dt100. I bought it giving no value to the engine so if it works it will put me way ahead of the game.

Good luck with the motor. I have friends off 210 closer to PVB. Let me know when you get it splashed and we can catch the Guanna bite[] been a while since I fished the flounder bite.
