  • Finally a 258 Cuddy

Just took posesion of my 1983 258 it's in good shape, some minor gel goat issues in the gunnels. Just need to know some of the problem areas on the 258. I Plan on going through the boat tomorrow..

Congrats! That's a clean looking boat and the 300 should push her along nicely. Good luck.

Thank you Jeff, think I got lucky finding this one. Hopefully I don't run into any surprises.

Hey MM I too have a 258 and mine has a 250 hpdi which i consider adequate but marginal power. I know that my engine is too low on the transom and am interested in your performance gains with raising the jack plate. have you experimented with it much yet?

Nevets - Have not experimented much, previous owner stated that the best performance came when it was raised all the way up.

Just had her pulled - have some gelcoat issues I will need to take care of, the gunnels and the lip that the bow rails attach to.

So im looking from the bow to the stern, all the way down to the rubber molding on the side.

Trying to decide if it's something I want to attempt to tackle in spring, or if I should have a professional do it..

Also plan on getting a Armstrong motor bracket and replacing/enclosing the transome - That will be a 1 or 2 years away.

Any advice moving forward would me much appreciated..

                              Thank You
