  • wood replacement on 1979 mako21

Hello everyone I am a new member of this awesome club and recently purchased a 1979 Mako 21. It's in good shape overall and am in the process of doing a few cosmetic updates to it including replacement of the wood that this boat comes with. It is quite worn and thinned from salt and weather. I already found a source for very nice custom step plates here on this site but I need also the moulding for the rod storage, rod holders the louvered covers and so on. Anyone has done this before? Greatly appreciate your comments. Thanks Joe

Use 3/4" Starboard, and find a friend who knows their way around a table saw, router table and drill press.

My thoughts exactly. After examining the pieces I don't think a local carpenter will have a hard time with this. I like the starboard idea. Less maintenance more fishing! Thanks for your reply

what are you going to do with the wood?

I'd pay shipping for a louvered door if you are just going to toss them.

There was only one louvered piece on the boat when I got it the anchor storage hatch. Not sure yet what I'm going to do with the wood. When I'm done with the boat I'll let you know.
