  • Not my fathers Mako

Back in mid June I sold my whaler 15, and found a 1998 mako 191 center console with a 150 Merc. After spending the last couple week getting her compounded, polished, and waxed. I must say, in no way I this mako built with the same quality as the late 70's, early 80's makos my dad had, a 22, 23, and, 25. I am disappointed in the quality of the gel coat especially. I had found several voids under the gel coat where the glass/mat was not pressed into the mold. Most are around the base of the console. I love the layout of the boat, but it definitely isn't my fathers mako!

That year was a transition year when the company was changing hands...again, so it would have been hit or miss on the quality. At least on the bright side, it sounds like they are cosmetic issues.
