    Hallo,

I am new on this forum, from Italy.

I am a proud owner of 261 (1991) with twin Johnson ocean pro 200 hp (2002).

I'd like to repower the boat, in Italy price of fuel is proibitive, about 2 USD for 1 liter.

What is best choice for new engines?

    one or two engines?

    two or four stroke?

    thank's

If it were mine I would repower it with Yamaha F300's, they are light very powerful and seem to be quite economical. My buddy has a pair on his 31 ocean master and it gets 1.7 mpg at 30 knots and it is heavier and wider than a 261...

Hello I recently repowered my 1992 Mako 261b CC with Suzuki 175 four strokes.

I had made my decision with reading forums discussing weight issues with four strokes. What makes the suzuki 175 a good choice is that they are 4 cylinders therefore lighter most. But these motors are enough power.I do wish that I could have found some used ETECs. They are only two stroke, but it is discussed that they are very quiet and efficient too. You should consider the ETECs for reason that for about the same weight of the 175s you could get maybe 200hp etecs. It is important to consider the need to run one engine and get up on plane easy should you have too.
