  • New Member and Owner of an 82' 224

Hello CM I just aquired a 82 model 224 with a 2000' 250 Merc. Have a few things to do to the boat before she'll be ready. I plan on using her fishing around Port St. Joe primarily, and Apalachicola/Panama City on occasion. I have been reading threads and looking at builds on this site for a couple of years but after my recent purchase, I decided I should join. I am a Fl native born and raised on the Gulf in Levy county now in the Panhandle if anyone is familiar with Port St. Joe area.

Hi, welcome to CM! You should plan on shooting over to Destin for our anual funament in June. While you are there please catch up with Chuck who also has a 224 and show him what speed is all about.[]

Thanks guys appreciate it. I want to be in Destin so bad I can taste it. I've shown the wife the pics from ya'lls annual get-together and she wants to go too but...... I am on a job in Indiana on top of that the boat needs a few things (mainly bad gas pumped out and new fuel lines because they didn't agree with the ethanol) mostly cosmetic other than that. If the fuel lines were ready and I was going to be in town I'd roll over there with the Oak tree green mold look LOL! I'll try to get some pictures up here soon so you can see what she looks like.

Dave he might be running one of your beloved black noise makers, but me and my lil 200 aren't intimidated; I am dialed in real good [8D]. I know of many 224's with more ponies that don't see my numbers.

Well it all looks original, almost TOO original hehe. I bought it from a friend who told me he had a new tank put in 4 yrs ago. The boat is at my dads place in Port St Joe he is going to be working on it for me while I'm up here in Indiana. He's going to pull the small deck plate and try to pump the old gas out possibly by pulling the sending unit. Also going to have him look and see if the tank was coated before install if not i'll have to make a decision to pull the big deck plate and coat or run it as is. I'd be leaning toward coating it now, even though it'll be more work and money. I think I'll be keeping the boat a while it seems like the perfect boat for me and the area I'm in. It's super solid everywhere no soft spots or problems with the glass anywhere except the fwd hatch covers on the fish box other than that just a nick here and there.
