  • New Owner of '72 Mako 15

Just acquired a little Mako 15' made in 1972 and I plan to use it to fly fish in the grass along the salt marshes around Beaufort, SC. Problem is I'm trying to get it registered in SC and the hull number off the plate on the transom has everyone baffled. I even called Mako Corporate and since they took ownership of the company in 2000 they were no help at all - in fact they sent me here. The hull number I have is 9 digits, hyphen, a letter, and two more digits. Trouble is I don't have the title only a copy of the last registration in 2008. Any advice out there?

    Congrats and welcome to CM!

The son of the original Mako owners comes around every so often to answer questions. Post in the Mako History Q&A thread and he might be able to help you decipher it. After you do that, let's see some pictures...

I saw some HIN under the rub rail . I would check with Brett as stated above. I would hate to see you take your rub rail because I told you so and it's not there. If you can get the HIN off the boat somewhere your local DMV should be able to reconstruct one for you. I'm sure you will need a bill of sale and probably other info to do it.

                Good luck
