  • Bow eye bolts

So I'm guessing I have to cut through the anchor compartment on my 74 mako 20 to access the bow eye bolts?

IT should be visable when you take the anchor hatch cover off. At least it was in my 21. There may be a piece of wood with screws in it covering the threaded rod and eye bolt.

There is a fiberglass molded piece that fits inside the bow anchor locker. Your bow eye bolts are right behind it. When I replaced mine, I cut a rectangular hole, dug out the foam and was able to remove the bolts and replace the bow eye. I cut a piece of starboard to fit over the hole and attached it with screws so that I could get back in there again.
