  • New member, 1980 171 Angler Project Boat!!!

I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum! My name is Jason and i am a custom home builder in the Jacksonville, Florida area. I purchased a 1980 171 angler for my sons upcoming 16th birthday. I am currently having to bouncy it around from one job site to another to keep it hidden from him but in the end, it will all be worth it. Engine is an 1998 Evinrude 115 that needs a tune, some plugs, and some misc. TLC. The hull is solid, no soft spots, no gaping holes! I have really enjoyed looking at the forum and plan to use many of the ideas from the postings. Here are my initial thoughts:

Patch all bolt/screw holes in hull and on the deck. Paint hull, engine and topside.

    New custom leaning post.

New T-top with electronics box, rocket launchers and out riggers.

New mounts for Penn down riggers.

New console layout with new gauges, steering wheel, and throttle.

Rerun the fuel line from center console back to gunnel.

    Simple electronics package...VHF, GPS/fishfinder, stereo.

Any ideas/suggestions that anyone has are always welcome. I realize that there is a lot more work than what I listed, but that should give you some idea where I am headed...

    Tight Lines... Jason

looks like I'd start with broom, then scrub brush with 20% beach + detergent!
