  • I just aquired a 1979 Mako 19

Hello all, I am stoked here. I just aquired a 1979 Mako 19 with a 120 evinrude that only has 50 hours on it. I cant wait to get started on the restoration. I will more than likely need a lot of help from this site. The boat hasent been started or ran since 1999. In 1999 it had a fifty hour service done and went out on one trip. I hooked a battery to it and it turns over and has excellent compression! There is no corrosion on it what so ever. The deck is solid but has spider cracks in it. This will be a project boat for me as I already have an Angler with a new motor on it. This will make a perfect Flamingo boat! Do these boats draft much water?

I dont want to ask too many questions here as I have a long road ahead of me and need to do some research.

    Thanks for checking in.

Welcome to a great site. Your situation gives me hope. I have a 17ft that hasn't been run since 2007 with a 2005 motor on it, hopefully I will have the same luck as you when I get around to starting it up. I was told to change all the fuel lines, the primer bulb, oil in lower unit, impeller, battery and add new fuel before running because it has sat so long. You may already know these things since you already have a boat but I figured i'd add it just in case.
