I am trying to avoid tire rot on my trailer. New tires, but parked on dirt and grass near the woods. thinking I should take off the tires and store inside, and put the trailer on cinder blocks until I need the trailer. Have the boat in a slip now. Any suggestions, or simply affirmation that I am on the right track.

as I understand it, oxidation is the main cause of this, with ozone (an especially reactive form of oxygen) accelerating the process. I think it was Armor All, tire black, etc, that has been used as a barrier to oxygen getting to the tire, but they don't last long. Used to be more of problem with natural rubber than with today's synthetics, but a coating of some sort would do more good than putting them inside, especially if you have electric motors running where you would store them, they make ozone.
