  • New member (now that the secret is out)

    Hey all,

I've posted a bit here and there but never did a proper "Hello", I wanted to wait until I REALLY had the boat.

Back in the middle of March I put my son on the plane to FL for spring break with his grandparents, and then went straight to look at the boat that caught my eye on craigslist; 1980 228 with a 225hp ficht.

Yes, I brought it straight to my local mechanic to get the bad news on the ficht. Its been there ever since, and the rest of the family has somehow managed to keep the secret from my son.

Tomorrow morning the secret is OUT!

The boat runs and we're going to run it.

I've enjoyed reading lots of expertise and history here over the past few months, and I'm happy to join the cult.

Not so much to show, really. It's just a naked boat.

                Thanks for the compliment.

"Naked" meaning "in desperate need of some dressing-up and fitting-out".

                Need seating.

Need a top (though that will be a debate with my sun-worshipping wife)

                Need a chartplotter/fishfinder.

                Need a GOOD swim platform/ladder.

Need new nonskid throughout, and need to paint the deck and house after patching holes from the former hardtop.

The good news is that the motor is FINALLY squared away and man she RUNS! Maybe when she's all loaded-up and fitted-out she'll use all that power but right now I think she could do fine with a 175!
