  • Engine Height Question

I have a 1988 Mako 211 and will be installing a 225HP Ocean Runner over the winter. In the past, I had my 200 HP Evinrude engine sitting "one hole" above transom in the bolt pattern. In other words, the engine was not resting on the top of transom.

Does anyone have experience with adjusting engine up higher for better performance. This is a 25" transom - I am concerned with potential out of water type activities of lower unit and/or unwanted cavitation issues

My past 200 did not have any issues or undesirable wake pattern, however, I was only able to cruise at 25 and top out at 30 knots

Put a straight edge on the keel, extending out the cavitation plate/antiventilation plate. My sweet spot was having the plate 1/4" above the keel.

I will wager you can mount that engine all the way up and be fine.
