  • 241 repower question

Nearing end of restoring 241 and have question about power. I closed in transom and added a flotation bracket with intention to put a 300 Suzuki on back. I picked up an '08 motor with 1100 hours that supposedly was running fine when pulled, but I have not confirmed that.

So, spoke with local dealer today about ordering everything to rig this engine, and also ordering a new 300. Hoping this motor will limp me along until new motor is available. which, I understand, may be a very long wait. He has a 250 , brand new, available now, quoted at 22k, including all fly by wire rigging and mounting.

My question is, enough power for this heavy hull ? and, what do y'all think about price in these times ? I'm not that interested in super fast boat, but don't want to be too underpowered either

Chuck B has the same hull and he did a 300 Zuke. I'm surprised he hasn't chimed in yet. In my opinion a 250 would suffice but it will not be a speed demon. Should show you upper 30's if not nearly 40, I would think though.

      As mentioned here is mine...

I personally do not think I'd be happy with 250 performance especially if dropping 22k. I am new to Suzuki and cannot compare a 250 to a 300, but I really do consider my 300 about minimum for my setup. I have no complaints and the boat performs well, but I also believe I'd be happier with a 350.

That said with the shortage of motors right now you could probably give a shot and if not happy just about fully recover costs.

Where are you located? I just saw a 350 in Navarre FL on FB Market Place. 2018, 30" shaft, 159 hrs, asking 19k.

appreciate y'alls advice, and it pretty much confirms what I've been thinking. Waiting on new 300 seems like wise choice. I'm in SC, but will check out the 350 in FL. Thanks again.

Gained a lot of inspiration and info from your restorations. What a learning curve, never realized how expensive a nearly free boat could be !
