  • 2000 Johnson 130hp

    Need prop size help! 1973 mako19 with 2000 Johnson 130hp. 14 3/4 x 17 prop. Sluggish hole shot, and top end is under 30 mph with 2 people, light gear and pony tank of fuel.

    What is your RPM at WOT? Sounds like you need to drop down to a 15p but need more info.

          Try a 15 of the same size and diameter. Should help a lot. RPM should come up by 400-600 or so.

            Thank you for taking time to reply, I have been doing calculations with big gear box ratio,boat size, and slip and I should have plenty of hp vs feet. I had 150hp Johnson but dropped down due to fuel consumption. 130 is great, 30miles off shore out of Crystal River Fl bottom fish all day and still have plenty fuel if I use 30 gal. Sealed tank. I will pitch down let u know.

              Find one on Craigslist, so you don't have to buy a new one just to try. If you can't find one call Ken at Prop Gods in Sarasota and he can send you one to try for like $40 with the option to keep if you like it.
