  • Mako 224 bilge plumbing

Ive just purchased gemlux shower drains and Im going to replace everything going to the thru hull. Right now its all pvc. From the thru hull its a 90 elbow to ball valve(which I can not turn), to pipe, to drain.

I know the proper way is to install a seacock, but wanted to see what others have done.

I was thinking from thru hull, bronze 90, bronze ball valve, pipe to drains or would it be better to put the ball valve directly to the thru hull, then 90 off that?

I have the SS ball valve right off the thru hull. From there I ran one 2" flex pipe up about 18" and then T'd both drains into one line. This has reduced the amount of water backing up on the deck and have had no issues with drainage.

Thanks for the info. What kind of adapter did you run off the valve for the piping?

PVC threaded into the ball valve and then barbed end for the hose to slip on. The T is a 2" x 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 to match the drains.
