  • 1978 Mako 21 tank replacement?

So another tank replacement on my boat. Going to try to use a Moeller fiberglass tank on mine, instead of an aluminum or stainless tank. Do most of you replace the aluminum vent and fill pipes or reuse them?

Are their glass tanks safe to use with Ethanol in the gas?

REPLACE!!! It might be a pain, but they go bad and create more problems if left in place.

We'll I'm going with an aluminum replacement tank because of the fumes leaking through the plastic tank. All the foam was soaked with fuel and water around the fuel tank. I'm curious how much wet foam there is below my deck. Still working on pulling the tank.

So how much foam to remove? I got the tank coffin cut out and heading towards the front storage lockers. Found the drain broken half way to the front. Should I remove all the foam on the outside of the stringers as well? I already figured on removing up to below the front storage lockers. I do plan on putting most of the foam back for safety purposes.
