No bottom paint. that's a plus. Some soap and stiff brush probably went a long way, along with pulling the plug out. Looks like twin SWS.

Regarding your original question - if you remove the front seating you will want to cut to the top of the gunwale as the backrest of the seats angle outward and if you follow the same angle it will angle in and probably not what you are looking for. Just a thought.

Removed the deck, aft fish box, forward seating, and also the tanks. One thing you dont anticipate when buying a project boat is having the fuel tanks full of old fuel. I'm not talking a little full or half full, they were brimming with fuel. That was a project with in it self to find a place to dispose the fuel properly. Thankfully a family friend hooked us up and we were back on track.

Transom removed and bottom was completely "defoamed". The fuel tanks were leaking really bad and as a result the foam was saturated with old gas, definitely a fire hazard. I am going to try and do a better job posting pics more frequent, the weekends seem to get away from me and we really do enjoy working on her.

I am pretty certain that we will remove the forward fuel tank bulk head and move the tank farther forward to help with the weight of twin engines and bracket. Can anyone tell me what the most amount of fuel someone has put in a 25?

Also we are trying to decide the thickness of the transom. Coosa makes a 2 inch thick sheet. Anyone think that is overkill or not enough? Thanks!

I think 1 1/2 would be plenty strong. I would think you could fit a least 150 gallons in there. Nice work keep posting!

ha bringing back some bad memories from my project there! the amount of foam in these things is incredible.

FWIW, I used doubled 3/4" Coosa Bluewater 26 for my 231 transom that will get a bracket. Was easier to find the 3/4" sheet than the 1.5" or 2" sheets, and leftovers are more versatile. Once I glassed it, that gave a total thickness of around 2". If you plan on heavy twins or crazy HP 2" of core might be safer, but I can't imagine needing any more than that.

as far as maximum tank size, I expect you could easily get close to 200 gallons.

Has anyone flirted with the idea of running two tanks outboard of the main stringers. Not sure if its deep enough? But while its pulled apart might as well entertain every crazy idea... thanks for the responses!!!

I'd think it may cause weight / listing issues, I'd avoid.

I don't think there is enough room to warrant having two tanks IMO.
