Mako 261B New Motors

Yeah...I think you'd be unhappy with 150s.

Like reelgator, I cruise at 30knots at 4000...and will look at 225s when its time.

I have a 92 261B and run a pair of 200 hp Yammaha's - cruise at 4200 rpm I go about 32 knots. At 5200 rpm I am 39-40 knots. I would go to 200's if I were you. When I repower I will probably go with 225's.

I think you can use more HP and should move up, but watch the weight. Check out the 261 vs engine weight comments on another thread here.

Can anyone help, should I install a pair of 150hp Merc 2003 on a 261b 1989 Mako. and how will the boat perform
