  • 1988 171 Mako fuel guage inoperative

    The fuel guage has not worked since I purchased the boat 18 mos ago.Where do I start?(any tips would be appreciated)

    If I am correct to assume it is the manual gauge under the console coming out of the top of the tank? If so, the gauge is magnetically operated. The dial on top is all that needs to be replaced. Removes with a couple of screws.

    Boat Owners Warehouse 1-800-boats-99 had the replacement dial, but you will need it out and in your hand to give them the information on the dial.

      check the connections to make sure the fuse is not blown, they wires are plugged in and aren't corroded. Many electrical problems can be fixed just by taking the connections off and cleaning them.
