shaft size for '76 25'

About to buy a 1976 25 it has 20" shafts,is this normal? I've seen several with 25" shafts,but not 20".

that year had a 25 inch transom.......if twins may take 20 inch. Not sure exactly how that works. I'm sure someone on here will know.

At centerline of the hull you need a 25' shaft to get the cavitation plate to the bottom of the keel. When you offset the engines from centerline for the twin application you need less length because the bottom is coming up as you move away from the keel. The transom cut out is flat all the way across. Therefore, the dimension differential.
