  • Stamping a HIN

I am considering using a 3D printer to make a stamp of my Mako's HIN and set that in fiberglass as I rebuild the transom. The stamp will leave the numbers and letters on the transom once removed. Anyone else do this instead of stamping a replacement HIN plate and riveting it back on?

Local kiddo has a 3D printer and he is up for the task and I know the USCG requires the HIN letters and numbers to be at least 1/4 inch tall, I am thinking block letters 1/2 inch tall.

    Thoughts?
