  • 1995 Mako 231 with 2007 Mercury 275 Verado

Anyone familiar with this particular boat. Or interested in taking a look if you live close by? It's on consignment at Scott's Marine in Elberta, AL.

A friend said to be wary of mid 90's Makos due to the tumult that was going on at Mako at the time. Getting rid of the more experienced staff to cut costs...

    Any thoughts on this boat?

Nola, I have a 1995 231 Tuppens and I love it!! I believe 1995 was the last year of the classics. 1996 started with the new company and then a few years after that, tracker bought it. If you want to be sure there is a mako history q&a on this forum that you can read through and get some insight!. Thats a sharp looking boat at a fair price as long as everything checks out, floor, transom, fuel tank, and so on.

That's weird that they would have it listed as a 231 and have 231 placard on the side. Does that mean it's a 94? Don't think there was a 221B in 95.

In 95 the 221B was rebadged as a 232 id bet money that they broke the original placards and were only able to find 231 places to replace it. It was also spoted out by another member on here under the classifieds section if I remember correctly. Still a nice boat and with the 275 should fly

nice looking boat, i'd be curious how the boat sits at rest and under way, that's a lot more weight on the transom then what its designed for

It is actually a 232. I wrote Scott's when it was first listed informing of incorrect model, but they were set on it being 231. You can tell from the pics it is a factory bracketed boat.

I rode past there a couple weeks ago going to a soccer tournament, was planning stop and take look at, but they were closed on the weekend and it is a fenced in yard.

I wouldn't hesitate on a mid 90's Mako, but you do have to pay attention to already mentioned areas; transom, tank hatch, tank, etc...

                  Guys,

                  Agree it's a 232. I'd wouldn't be too worried about 1995 model year. I have a 97 and extremely happy.

                  Thanks, Mr. Happy

It looks like the boat is sold. If I am not mistaken, that motor weighs about 635lbs. I'm also quite interested if something that heavy/powerful is a good choice.

My understanding is the 275 block is the same as the 300 with the only difference being software. Local mechanic here has two on his scarab he says put out 330. Just a thought for those looking at this one. []

Great boat and year. Last of the classics in arguably one of the best mako hulls of all time.

                            Go for it!
