Classic Mako 25'........vs 23' Seacraft Sceptre

Experienced boater who's had both gave the edge to the Mako - drier, less bow wallow in following sea.

Any others experienced with both boats performance to comment ?

I had a 23' Seacraft with a straight inboard so it's not a true comparison. But that Seacraft had to be the best 23' boat out there in a heavy sea and in chop. And it handled a following sea great. You never had to back off the throttle.

    I also had a 78 25' Mako.

Have to say length wins this one. 2' makes a difference.

Thanks NoNameDave - never boring to me to discuss boat ride characteristics......I've read the inboard best, I/O, then outboard in terms of best ride.

Got to be willing to deal with the realities of running with either inboard or 1/O though. They do seem a bit more conditional than running today's reliable outboards.

I've switched from CC to enjoying cuddy boat but have long admired the classic lines of the Mako 25'.......and in cuddy the Seacraft Sceptre.

tough to make the apples to apples comparison on those too even having been on both. Personally I like the little more beam on the 241 or 261

while I own a 21 and 23 Mako, the 23 SeaCraft is hands down the best riding boat and I would put it up against most CC today such as a Regulator. The down side is it is a wet ride if the wind is blowing, but overall the deep V all the way aft makes a huge difference vs. the Mako that flattens out aft.

I have run many SeaCrafts over the years and they hold their value well when they fix 'em up.

Honestly have friends with both (members here). Ride of each is awesome. Both very solid when it gets rough. I like the Seacraft 3 piece hull much more for getting feet under gunnels, etc, but the Mako has a lot more storage. The 2 I have the most experience with are a little of an apples/orange as the Mako has a cut transom and the Seacraft has a bracket. Honestly, Win Win either way.

I cant speak for the 23' but the Classic 25 ride is undeniable. Anyone who has never been on one that gets on my boat always says something like "oh man this thing rides great, I thought we were going to slam there" when we are ripping out the inlet on an outgoing tide. And these are guys with 27T tenders or 21 Bluewaters at home.
