  • Best Prop Size?

Looking to find the info on the best prop size for a Suzuki 225 on a 1972 Mako 22. I am in CT and using it primarily in the LI Sound if that makes a difference.

    Thanks!

I had a couple of different props for a 225 that I had on a 21..deep v hull so you are going to be able to spin a bigger one. I ran a 14x19 and a 15x17..or something close to that..was a few years ago...the 15x17 let the engine wind up another 350-400 rpms which picked up top speed and lowered engine fuel use.

Never had a 4 stroke, but it has always been my belief that you want the engine to reach designed maximum RPM at WOT with a load (fuel, people, gear)in the boat that it will most likely be used with.

Over propped (too high a pitch) and motor will lug.
