  • seadek on a flats boats

Have a 1996 17flats boat that is in need of a facelift. Trying to decide if putting Seadek is the best solution vs. trying to find someone who will just clean up some of the scratches, chips etc. repaint the deck of the flats boat.

Thinking that Seadeck would 1) give the boat a nice fresh look vs. the expensive cost of fiberglass work and repainting and 2) the added benefit of a soft deck vs. non-skid for those long days on the water.

interesting, just read thru a THT thread. The poster ended up having his redone by SeaDek and is happy with it after a year. Seems like the darker colors are more susceptible to the 'light amplification burning'. In that case, he had a dark grey over dark camo. replaced with a light sand color and hasn't had the issue.

If I did my Backcountry 18 I would probably go with sand on white anyway...as much as I like the look of the faux teak, any dark deck is gonna get too hot...(I have original 'Bahama Gold' decks on my 236...can't go barefoot on that boat).
