  • Support new deck?

Before I drop the deck back in my Mako 19, what are all of your thoughts on raising the stringers up to support it? The deck could rest on those along with the new foam OR just rest it on the foam (the way it was originally). The higher stringers should give the boat more rigidity and give me better control pouring the foam back in. Thoughts or recommendations?

hello capt w i raised my stringer height to rest the deck on top in a 22 i had was a great decision it seemed to solidify the hull make it all one It just seemed to be a no brainer at the time and would do it again if the need arose good luck

The original mako design was a floating deck so that the vibration and shock transfer from the hull to deck were lessened, thus giving a better ride. Either would way would work, and afterall it's a 19 - you aren't going to be running full steam in 3-4' foot chop. []
