  • 1978 233 Inboard, Keel Drive - Prop Size?

    Hey All,

Need a new prop for my 78 inboard Merc 350 Mako 23 (may not be 233, that's just the placard that is on it) Center console.

I am not sure what was on it before, but I could only top out around 22 knots on the ocean (even calm bay.)

    Any recommendations on correct size?

    Thanks!

    I run a 16R15 nibril prop on mine; I have a 1.5:1 transmission.

That puts me right at the engine redline at WOT doing ~30 knots.

This thread will help if you have a 1:1 instead of the 1.5:1
