  • Anybody seen the new Mercury 225 4-strokes?

    Only 475 pounds for a 225 4-stroke. That's impressive.

Never been a particular Merc fan, but they did A LOT right on these engines. You can pull the dipstick to check oil from under a panel, you don't have to pull the cowl.

Think they have a winner here.

Never been a Merc fan either but these light 4-strokes intrigue me.

Not yet, but I think a few of the "secret " big motors are in route to the warehouse...

I say secret because the story leaked on THT

Yep, seems like Merc did their homework on this motor and hoping they are as good as we are hearing. Then again, this is a new motor and I'm not one to be an early adopter to find issues several years in where long term testing can only be done with ownership. Yamaha has made guinea pigs out of many people that parted with $$ for the privilege of owning a motor that fails just out of warranty, so only time will tell on this new Merc.

Take THT with a big grain of salt. There was a post there on the Zuke 350 and 400 models that was fabricated by a person who goes by the name dtmackey and it went viral in under 24hours.....

The new Merc V6 models should be shipping now. Anything bigger is coming, but no idea when.
