You can start with http://www.mako-boats.com and go to Boat Specs. This will give you a rough estimate of the hull, then add motor, batteries, fuel, gear, etc. The site does show an 1986 236 at 3,800 pounds so I'm pretty confident you are under 5 tons, but the best method would be to take the boat and motor to a certified scale and have the whole thing weighed.

Its based, as I remember, on a volume calculation and has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with what the boat weights on the scales as stryker has said.
LS...I think you're marginal, if I had to bet I'd say your over 5 tons. I think when my father did the calcs on our 26 back when my little bro went for his ticket, I think the 26 came in at 8 tons...but I cant exactly remember, may have even been more. But off hand, I'd say you're over.

I guess I should have read that one a little closer. Having a three week old baby is starting to show it's effects......

Yeah, its god's sleep deprivation experiment.
Look at it this way...my daughter was born last march. By the time canyon season came around, I was in such prime chunking trip shape, I was almost immune to being tired and sleepy, I was like ironman up all night throwing chunks. It puts you in good fishing shape!
