So I am looking at putting a few rod holders into the front gunnels (2 on each side). I need to know how much foam is in the closed portion of the gunnel and below. Most of the rod holders are either open on the bottom, or have a drain nipple to attach a hose to and drain out. Regardless, I will get one with a cap to prevent any water entering them, this is the just in case back up for it the rubber either breaks or I forget to cover it. I am assuming if water drained thru the bottom of the rod holder, it would just go into the hull foam? Didnt know if there was an off-chance that there is no foam in the closed gunnel sides and it runs, unobstructed, into the bilge without getting anything wet?

Do you use the rod lockers? I would run the holders with drain tubes aft and tie into the rod tubes. You can access them on the port and starboard side. Then they will drain into the cockpit. My foam is not up to the rub rail. Not sure it ever was. There are some sheets of it on the sides but not much. How many are you looking to add. I saw someone add 3 zero degrees right in front of the seat and drained them into the anchor locker.

I am going to add 2 on each side. 15 degree so they have a slight turn out of the boat for if a fish bites, but dont hang out of the boat too far. So are you saying to run the tube into the in floor rod lockers on the side of the console?

Nevermind, i get what your saying. Go into the rod storage on the actual side of the boat...That is a good idea, I have little square access on the front side gunnels, i guess i would need to take a look and see whats behind there and what i can get to.
