  • 231 windshield height

Fellas, I'm hoping somebody has solved this issue already. I'm having a windshield made for my 231 and I am just curious about the height that I should go with. I wasn't sure if there was a good happy medium for being able to still see above the windshield and also be able to slightly duck behind it to block wind and water. I know this will vary with the height of each person, but without an actual windshield up there it is difficult to guage that sweet spot so your line of sight isn't right there at that annoying place where the windshield stops. I'm 5'8 and came up with about a 16" tall windshield. I have decided after reading here and it making sense that I am going with a clear one and not tinted. Also going to see if they can laser Mako231 on the front center of it near the bottom.

Which console do you have? On mine, i am eye level just under the factory windshield bar so i have a clear line of view, but say the windshield gets sprayed or dirty i can just stand on my toes a little and see over the bar, between the ttop box and windshield

Hunt, I appreciate it. That is kind of what I was going for and I think that's what I'll go with. I have almost the exact console as you do I think. I just got it back from the t top shop and dropped it at the windshield place. I haven't forgotten about you on the front lid with the piano hinge. As soon as I get a chance I will snap some pictures for you

Another option for up north would be to have a custom enclosure with strataglass and canvas batwings fabricated thus reducing the need for a taller windshield. On our previously owned 17 the windshield was covered in the lower front section and the strataglass panel provided protection from spray. The wings were also a good wind break when anchored.

Hunt I appreciate the pictures. Yea I'm down in FL, probably won't go with a full enclosure like that. I got with the windshield guy again and stood at the helm and had him hold up some material and decided 16" was the height for me. That way I can see over it and if I need to I can duck a little to block wind and water. Going to go with a full clear one.
