  • Repowering a 17

    What would you go with?

Thinking a 115 Etec or Yammy 4 stroke.

    It's a stock, restored 171 with a 20" transom.

    Thanks

Suzuki DF115SS is what I'll be hanging on my 171 very soon.

i hung a new 90 yammie 4stroke on mine. it had a 70, 90, 115 and now the 4 stroke. performance with the 115 was about 5 mph faster than a 90. running same numbers with 4 stroke as 2 stroke 90. averaging 5 to 6 mph with the 90. got 3.5 mph with the 115 2 stroke.

I would go with an Etec/opti 115 on any of the Classics. Cant beat the weight savings.

What is the performance and fuel consumption like with the 115 etec?

How much did you pay for it?

            What prop are you using?

We went with an ETEC 90 on ours and love it plenty of speed and pick up, yet very fuel efficient, and with the ETEC you don't have to deal with oil filters/changes and fresh water flushing and winterizing is super simple.
