  • Mako 19 access plate?

On my 1970 Mako 19 there is a ~5x5 wood plate covering a hole in the starboard side freeboard. There is nothing inside the hole. Does anyone know if those are original or a feature that the previous owner added?

Just guessing but it could have been a cover for an access hole they used to pump foam into the hull. It could also have been for an antenna mount. If you can see foam under it, it is covering an access hole.

Thanks cjmiller. Appreciate your thoughts. Others have told me they think its a foam injection site too.
