i wouldn't exceed spec.
2 reasons:
1. That number is there not only for weight, but safety. 50 HP and the TQ it creates could cause transom issues.
2. 200lbs doesn't sound like much, but imagine your 200 lb friend constantly standing in the stern of the boat. Then imagine you and another friend going back there to fish.

Weight is an ISSUE....My take is i would stick with 150 HP. .Evinrude make a new G2150. I am sure the performance of the G2 150 would far exceed your requirements and expectations.

1989 19.1ft Re-power question
Max hp for 19.1 spec. is 150hp. I've got a possible deal for a 200hp the weight difference would be about 200lbs. extra
Has anyone powered up a 19.1 to a 200hp and had any issues with this??
