  • HELP?__Prop Size? 261 with 200 HPDI's

I am re-powering my 261 with a pair of 2002 200HP HPDI's and the new motors do not have any props.

Is there anyone running this or a similar setup? What props are you running and what performance are you getting?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me!

    Cheers!

    KJ

How do you run the boat? Heavy, Light, do you run in rough water? Are you looking for speed or econ? Fresh or salt water?

      Thanks for your help.

I run the boat in Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island and some near shore use (30 miles off). This is Salt water, and frequently in 1-3 foot chop. When off shore, there are some larger swells.

I usually run the boat light on gear, heavy on fuel - Its primarily a day boat, so we don't keep a lot on board.

Speed -or- Economy... good question... From everything I have read, 200's on this boat should push it to almost 50 - no way do I need all that speed! So I guess I would say, I am looking for a prop that will allow the engines to run healthy, economically, and produce a cruise in the 30's (with an occasional joyride in the 40's [])- I'd be happy.

I have a 254 with a bracket and twin 225 optis. I have run 19, 21, and 23 props. Still trying to figure out the best option.

I have not come close to hitting 50.

        Are your motors transom mounted?

Yes, my motors are transom mounted (or will be next week). I guess the goal is to have them turn at +/~ 5,200 - 5,400 RPM at WOT?

2001 200 HPDIs on the 26, turning 17P stiletto's. Not sure on their diameter, whatever stock stiletto's are.

            I can turn 52-5300 heavy, 5400+ light

Thanks Patrick! With everything that I have read, I am going to start with the 15x19 three blades. That seems to be the general consensus that I have seen.

                I'll keep you all posted.

                Happy Holidays.
