12v Marine AC system

As some may know my Contender is for sale and I've already got my new to me '94 Intrepid 284 WA. Looking for insight and first hand experience from anyone who has one of these 12v cabin AC systems. Have heard of them being either hard wired to a battery or thru an inverter. Looking for pro's and con's to all of it.
