  • Need help identifying my mako

Need some help identifying my new to me mako. I know it's a 1985, the hull is just over 28ft long and 10 feet wide. Best I can come up with is a 286, but what has me confused is everything I have read says they all came with twin inboard engines. This particular mako only has a single inboard. And I can't find any pictures anywhere of another like it with the box on the back that the rutters and prop shaft is coming out of. Has me stumped. Any help is appreciated! TIA!

    Looks like in '85 there was a 284 and a 286...

I do not remember the specifics/differences, but feel at some point I have either seen a similar boat or maybe this one. If you have time (long thread) you might want to go through the history thread, lots of good info there and you might find specifics.

From what I've read I believe the 284 had twin outboards and the 286 had twin inboards. All I can think is Maybe someone custom ordered this particular one with a single inboard.
