I was lead to believe the 254 started in 84? original transom? 25" or 30" transom?

twin 225's MIGHT be little too much for that transom, think 150's would be more ideal

With the reliability of the new outboards a single 300 Yamaha or Suzuki would be nice! Twin Zuke 175s if twins. Etec 175 - 200 twins two stroke. Don't know much about outboards but think those would be a good fit.

this is a pretty good list, problem with 25" transom and twins is they would have to be 20" motors or you would want to build up the transom for a single 30"/twin 25"

                          Steve,

My sources tell me that Merc has partnered with Apple and they will offer an App on IOS that is compatible with iphones 6S and up models and also the iWatch, so you can control your outboard from your mobile device[]

This is sure to usher in a whole new generation of boaters as parents who still can't figure out how to change the font size or sync their iPhones will now have to rely on their kids to start and drive their boats. The secondary benefit is kids will now participate in the boating experience rather than sitting up the bow taking selfies and posting on Instagram.[:0]

They wanted to call it iCommand, but Evinrude already locked up that registered trademark with their digital gauges back in 2005 for the E-tec motors, so it will be called iDrive instead.[]
