Looking at a 95 282cc with twin 350 mercy on it. The transom has been beefed up with a metal plate. Stir worried not so much the transome can take it but is it still to heavy for the boat in performance wise. Any thoughts?

Per Mako Marine, that boat was only rated for 450HP.

I'm all about more power, but that sounds like an expensive repair in the not too distant future. Can one adequately beef up the transom/hull/stringer connections to make it work?

Seems pretty agressive to put that much HP on that hull. That boat was just not designed to have that much weight back there, it will surely end with a transom rebuild.
