Were 19's built in 1965?

I am hoping you might help me with a Mako question. I recently bought a 19' restored off a guy who told me the boat is a 1965 model. He said there were some prototypes without a hull number that were built before 1968 when production was at a stand still. Is this true? Mine does not have a # anywhere on it. I am a bit concerned that I will have trouble registering it here in NC or getting insurance without one. I tell ya though, it is a beauty! I can't wait to cruise it around Morehead and Atlanctic Beach this Summer! Thanks for your consideration!

Apparently the folks at Mako have been known to hide hull #'s in different locations. When I dropped my '84 228 off for repower,

mechanic went up inside the cabin & got a # from in there somewhere (my rear plate is missing).

I've heard others on here talk about under the rub rail & various other spots.

According to the owner's son Brett, the first hulls were made in 67...but who knows...could be an early prototype. We'll know if you post pics!
