  • Can a siren be used as a signalling device?

I have an old siren that I have thought about installing on my boat instead of a horn. I don't think you can legally have one on a car, but does anyone know if this would be legal on a boat?

no. have to be able to give sequenced blasts or whistles depending on situation. would not be against the law and would be a way to get someone's attention in an emergency. just would have to also have a horn or whistle depending on size of vessel.

That's exactly what I was thinking, wart! Where could I get a toggle switch for it?

I wouldn't put it on a toggle switch. I'd put it one a push button/w a rubber cover on it. Just like a horn button.

You can see where my horn button is here. I don't like a horn on a rocker switch. You can't control it easy.

The red botton on the left side. That way you can rest your hand on the console when your bouncing along. The top red dot is a high water alarm light.

wart - you keep posting these items w/ prices I am going to have to start harrassing you before every purchase. I paid almost $20 for same push botton for my horn. I need to learn more patience - when it comes to my boat I have the need for instant satisfaction. It makes me mad thinking about how much money I could have/should have saved.
