Anybody know where to get replacement courtesy lights for Makos. I've bought several that were a bit smaller than my orignal ones.

    Thanks,

Welcome! Those Mako courteousy lights are aluminum housings made by a company called Marinum I think. I have looked around for them, but nothing has turned up yet.

Someone told me once that Marinum was once a Perko product line, but I don't know for sure. Maybe someone who knows more will show up.

If anyone ever traces down the MARINUM company please let me know. I have a gas cap that I need to replace, and none of the other brands fit.

I have a brand new one sitting in the garage. I got it it Marine connection Liq. Another Mako owner had been telling me he wanted to buy it from me, but hasn't ever moved on it. You want it? This is just the cap, not the housing...

The forum e-mail address isn't working yet. So drop me a line at [email protected]

We'll work out the details there.

All of the marinium products on our Mako's were made by a company called Wilcox-Crittenden out of Newport, RI. They have been bought and sold numerous times and I am 99% sure that they don't stock any of the items anymore. Last time I looked it appeared that they only stocked sailboat hardware.

I have heard that some Mako owners have had their old, pitted marinium products reanodized with good success. Worth a shot, right?

As far as the plastic lens is concerned, I think your only luck is to keep digging around. Another alternative that I have been thinking of is to see if the new Hella led courtesy lights will fit in the stock Mako marinium housing (maybe epoxy them in??). If it does fit, problem solved....plus you'll have much better courtesy lights that use less juice from your batteries.

Good ideas Ed. I have been trying to keep it OEM for quite some time now, but I think there comes a point where you have to say "screw-it" and either start making things completely custom or retro fitting new parts to these old holes.

Chuck Roseman at Roseman's Marine in Stone Harbor, NJ was able to get me new gas caps that fit. 609-368-1811. He is a great guy and can get you stuff that nobody esle can. He knows as much about boats as anybody I have ever met in my life.

                            Mako258, Livebait,

Where in NJ are you? Always looking for fellow Mako guys in South Jersey to compare notes with.

Shep.. are you at work??? If so I'm surprised that Big Brother Hal 2000 isn't keeping you out of this message board. Could I have possibly slipped one in under the radar?
